Of the 278 unique evening meals I have cooked this year, there are very few that have been inedible. We went from the sublime of yesterday's stellar beef stew to the ridiculous tonight. I have to admit that as it didn't look too appealing in the pan I couldn't quite bring myself to taste it before serving in the hope that it might just surprise me at the table.

After one mouthful of our jackfruit, chickpea and coconut stir fry, my husband and I looked at one another and asked in comedic unison "cheese and biscuits?"
